A random Friday
I’ve always found Fridays to be an interesting day. I can remember when I was growing up. People would say TGIF and other similar phrases that led me to believe that that was the day of the week that they look forward to the most. I have never been a big fan of Fridays day over others not for any particular reason. Honestly, I prefer Mondays and I’ve always look forward to a Monday because it was the day that reestablish the routine in my life, and as I got older, I enjoyed my profession and so I looked forward to starting work again on Mondays.
I mentioned that I did not prefer them over other days, (I’m sitting here chuckling to myself) because the older I’ve gotten by the time I get to a Friday I’m ready for an early evening in my PJs either reading a book or watching some TV or sitting out on the back porch. I know when I was younger Fridays were kind of the day that a lot of people started their weekend and went out and I think to myself now I just don’t have the energy for that.
I brought up Friday’s as a topic today because well it’s Friday and my big plans are to go to Costco and do shopping and get things ready for the next week for my family and my weekend is packed full of plans to move dirt to fill-in holes in my yard and reseed my grass, and again I’m sitting here chuckling to myself because that’s what brings me happiness and keeps me motivated toward the next day. It’s funny I guess how as we move through time the things that bring us joy change so drastically. I can honestly say that in my 20s if somebody would’ve asked me to go grocery shopping and shovel dirt, I would’ve politely found a way to do something else.
So my thoughts for anyone reading this are that I hope on this Friday for you that you find or get the opportunity to do those things that bring you joy whether that is shopping at Costco for your family or sitting in a quiet room, reading a book or taking a quick holiday somewhere for the weekend. Without being too philosophical or corny, it’s the little things that make it worth being on this earth and so I hope you find your little piece of happiness. Happy Friday.
